What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program, also known as an IOP, is a level of care offered by our addiction treatment centers. It is designed for those who do not need or want inpatient treatment but still need intensive support and care. Our intensive outpatient program in New Hampshire fits between our partial hospitalization and outpatient programs so that clients have the support they need at every step of the way on the journey to recovery.

Clients visit our center several times a week for group and individual therapy sessions, check-ins with our clinical team, and other services.

The benefits of our intensive outpatient program include:

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Certain medications can help those struggling with opioid addiction

Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Simultaneous treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders promotes lasting sobriety

A Tailored Treatment Plan That Meets Each Individual's Needs

We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment but individualize plans so we can meet clients where they are

Support Every Step Of The Way

Our IOP is just one part of our comprehensive approach

What to Expect in Our Intensive Outpatient Program

Evidence-based care

Therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy promote healthy habits and ways to cope with stress and other triggers

Support from a team of professionals

The A Better State team includes experienced therapists, counselors, and doctors

Group therapy and peer support

Group therapy sessions help those in treatment build a network of support

Intensive outpatient treatment at A Better State allows clients to continue living at home and working while receiving treatment. Participants might attend sessions three to five days per week for three to four hours per day. And with both day and evening IOP tracks available, clients can choose a treatment plan that fits their schedule.

For those with co-occurring disorders, A Better State offers comprehensive treatment that addresses both issues simultaneously. Our approach is tailored to each individual client and includes evidence-based therapies as well as medication management. We provide support every step of the way to ensure a successful outcome.
