Who We Are
A Better State was founded out of a passion for seeing people work together to fight addiction. Addiction thrives in isolation, and we’ve seen firsthand how community and support can be a catalyst for change. Lasting recovery is possible, and we’re working to extend that possibility to everyone in our community who has been impacted by addiction.
What Sets A Better State Apart
We approach addiction treatment with a trauma-informed, holistic approach. This means that we take the whole person into account when designing treatment plans, including any past trauma and co-occurring mental health issues. At A Better State, we know that there are a number of factors that can contribute to substance use disorders, including a family history of addiction, chronic pain, and mental health concerns like anxiety and depression.
Consistent support and a community feel are just part of what we offer. Our approach to addiction treatment also includes a high level of clinical expertise so that we can address all of our clients’ needs.

We offer a wide variety of treatment programs in order to meet every client where they are. A Better State also partners with local sober living providers for clients in need of supportive housing during treatment.

Addiction Treatment Programs
Our outpatient addiction treatment programs give clients flexibility while still providing consistent support.
Partial hospitalization program – The highest level of care offered at A Better State, our PHP is a five-days-a-week program featuring therapy, counseling, and clinical care
Intensive outpatient program – This step down from our PHP involves group and individual therapy sessions several days a week
Evening intensive outpatient program – This flexible option gives clients the opportunity to take care of responsibilities at work and at home while in treatment
Outpatient treatment program – Our least intensive level of care is designed for those who are transitioning back into their everyday lives
12-step treatment program – The 12 steps are a time-tested approach to addiction treatment that can promote lasting sobriety
Medication-assisted treatment program – Certain medications can curb cravings and ease withdrawal symptoms, allowing clients to focus on working through the underlying causes of addiction
Co-occurring disorders treatment program – Treatment for those who also struggle with co-occurring mental health conditions.
